I take a client-centered, collaborative approach, believing individuals are the experts of their own lives. With nearly two decades of experience working with trauma, substance use, and mental health issues, including within law enforcement, my focus is on those affected by addiction, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I address current concerns while exploring early life experiences and relationships to promote deeper healing. Through various therapeutic modalities, I create a supportive, empathetic space for clients to explore and grow.
The therapeutic relationship develops from creating an empathetic stance, in which you are supported. I utilize internal family systems IFS, cognitive behavioural therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing EMDR, harm reduction, and compassionate inquiry. I also have extensive experience in the use and benefits of physical fitness and nutrition.
In conjunction with my approaches that I have established from my education and professional life, I feel that the basis of impactful and effective counselling stems from the relationship itself. I truly feel that it is an honour to sit with the client as they share their life and will join in on the journey throughout the counselling process.
